As a transcriptionist, I do reports all of the time for specialists who see a referral and end up having to backtrack to the patient’s primary physician to get records from previous labs and tests. It would seem to me that, if a primary care physician were to at least convert to some type of local EMR for their office, a lot of man hours could be saved by simply sending over a patient’s tests/labs electronically? That is why we started a basic transcription company for primary care physicians. We believe the cost per line charge we have will impact both the man hours spent searching for files and the paper involved in storing those files. Check us out you may be surprised.
