Just a brief note and an unsolicited endorsement of an overlooked software program for Medical Transcriptionists. I have been using a program called Smart Type for a number of years and I have been very happy with it. This software comes preprogrammed with thousands of medical terms and medications. I know there are several programs out there now that are probably even better, but sometimes an old dog… well you know the rest.
One of the reasons I like this program so much is it has the ability to store entire documents as templates that can be called up with a couple of keystrokes. Also, you can create short cuts that will call up a few words or entire paragraphs with the same couple of keystrokes. The only downside is that they have not modified it to work on Windows Vista, but it will work on the older windows operating systems.
So, if you are so inclined take a look at it some time. You can find it on Stedman’s web site.
